The pachipamwe charity is operated from Great Rollright, Oxfordshire. Situated approximately 20 miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon and 20 miles north of Oxford, we are relatively easy to get to from the M5 and M40. From Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon it normally takes about 30 minutes to get to Great Rollright (but can take up to 45 minutes), and from London (when traffic is good) expect to travel for about an hour and three quarters.
Getting here
Generally, one should aim for Chipping Norton (just off the A3400)which is about half way between Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon. Great Rollright is on the map and you should follow the last part of the directions below if you are coming from somewhere other than Oxford or London.
If you are coming from London or Oxford, the directions below should help you find us...
Take the M40 from London towards Oxford and Birmingham. Go along the M40 and pass Beaconsfield , High Wycombe and Stokenchurch. Go down a hill through an escarpment and after about 8 miles take the A40 exit to Oxford , 1/3 mile after the A329 exit.
At the first roundabout (6 minutes from M40 turn off) take the Oxford ring road (right – third exit) signposted Cheltenham A40 and Evesham A44. Take this dual carriage-way to the end where there is a small roundabout.
Straight across at this first roundabout (the Banbury Rd turn). Next roundabout (200 yds) take the A44 to Evesham – 4 th exit – WITH THE BP GARAGE ON YOUR LEFT!! Next roundabout (200 yds the junction with the A34) take the second exit to Evesham A44 and local signs to Woodstock . You almost immediately end up at another small roundabout where you turn left. Keep on this road and at all the small roundabouts, just keep on going straight over them.
Follow A44 through Woodstock and then through Enstone (6 minutes from Woodstock). There are speed cameras outside Blenheim Palace and in Enstone.
5 minutes after Enstone the A44 goes left at traffic lights to Evesham and Chipping Norton. Do not turn left keep straight on the A3400 to Stratford. After about one mile there is a roundabout by a Shell garage. Go straight on.
After half a mile just over the brow of a hill there is a right turn to Great Rollright.
Take that turn and drive into the village (1 mile).
Enter village - narrow road past some cottages.
Look for a white sign on the left pointing right to the church and village shop which is by the bus stop and telephone box. Turn right.
Go past the post office (50 yards)
Tyte Court is 100yds past the post office on the left. Name of house carved in the wall. Iron gates (which will normally be open, otherwise please ring the intercom next to the gate!!)
Timing: It will take about 1 hr from the M25 junction with the M40, 1.75 hours from central London and about 30-40 mins from Oxford. The journey time really depends on the traffic!! AND don't forget the speed cameras!! |
